Responding to the call of Jesus to fulfill His mission of love and service and embedded with fortitude and missionary zeal the sisters of Jyothi Province Kothamanagalm stepped in to the northern region of the motherland in 1973 which marked the beginning of JeevaJyothiProvince. The pioneers and those who came after them proved themselves to be the real spiritual daughters of the Founder Father in confronting the adverse climatic conditions, geographical distances, poor means of communication, threats to life and linguistic differences.

Accepting the invitation of His Excellency Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham D. Mattam, Bishop of Satna, a band of six enthusiastic sisters mustered courage to launch out and began their life as missionaries of Sacred Heart of Jesus on the day of Pentecost on 10th June 1973 in Satna, a Syro-Malabar diocese in Madhya Pradesh and began two convents on the 12th of June in Tikamgarh and Satna. The spirited endeavours of   our pioneering sisters in the diocese uplifted the downtrodden of the area mainly through education, medical service, social work and pastoral   activities. In response to the invitation from His Excellency Rt. Rev. Dr. SymphorianKeeperath, Bishop of Jalandhar four of our sisters came forward to spread the fragrance of the compassionate love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the diocese of Jalandhar, Punjab on 1st November 1973. They started the work of evangelization by working in the printing press and visiting houses.

Taking note of the increase in the number of convents and sisters this area was raised as St. Margaret region on 14th April 1991. Trust in the Divine Providence, the inherited courage and zeal of the Founder paved the way for the sisters in distributing the divine riches of the Sacred Heart. When we had the required number of convents and sisters, Very Mother Claris S.H the then Superior General raised this region as JeevaJyothivice Province Delhi on 26th February 1995. It was a red letter day for the JeevaJyothians as this ViceProvince was raised to JeevaJyothi Province Delhi on 7th October 2000.

Our province grew up to include the states of Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Haryana, Delhi, Jharkhand and Germany. We have extended our service to Africa in the year 1997.

We are engaged in dispelling the darkness of ignorance by imparting quality education, social upliftment through animation, conscientization and welfare activities, caring the abandoned children, evangelization and upliftment of Christian communities both in Syro-Malabar and Latin dioceses through catechism and pastoral work, holistic health care through healing ministry, free boarding for poor girls and prison ministry. Trust in the Divine Providence   of God, the corner stone on which our Founder Father built and nurtured the Sacred Heart congregation is the strong foundation of JeevaJyothiProvince. May the good Lord continue to bless us to live up to the vision of our Founder to be messengers of the compassionate love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to the far ends of the world.
